HiPower Committees
HiPower is almost entirely volunteer-run — which means we need YOU to step up and help make things happen!
During the Ignite Conference, you will have the opportunity to attend interest sessions for two of the below Volunteer Committees. Then you will choose one to be involved with throughout the year, as part of our give-get community.
Recruiting & Admissions Committee
The Recruiting & Admissions Committee leads the selection process for new HiPower Rings. Committee members evaluate applications and help ensure alignment between HiPower’s mission and the next generation of Rings. We are committed to inclusivity and thoughtfulness throughout the admissions process.
Being on the Admissions Committee is a powerful way to:
* Shape the future of HiPower by inviting new members into the community.
* Deepen your relationships within the community through meaningful collaboration.
BYOF (Bring Your Own Friend) Committee
BYOFs are a HiPower activity intended to continue to help us build out our bonds and also expand our network. They are organized at a grassroots level by Hipowerites for others in their area. Attendees are encouraged to invite a woman or non-binary friend working in a professional arena so we can expand our network.
Community engagement committee
HiPower collaborates with sponsors and HiPower Executives to run periodic programs open to the public, inviting new voices and perspectives into our community. These programs allow us to connect with a wider audience, share insights, and broaden our collective impact.
Ignite Tracks Committee
Ignite Tracks are like mini-courses you can take during the conference, designed to help you develop specific skills and materials. Each Track has 3 sessions which are carefully designed to build on each other.
The mission of the Ignite Tracks Committee is to organize three engaging Tracks for Ignite attendees to participate in during the conference. Each Track will be made up of three 45-minute sessions on a topic of interest to HiPower members, and should build on each other to help HiPowerites develop a concrete skill.
Ring Leaders
As the people our new Ring members will interface with most often, Ring Leaders are critical to creating a successful experience for our new HiPowerites. Agreeing to be a Ring Leader is a commitment, and I appreciate every one of you for taking time out of your busy schedules to. Ring Leaders must understand the purpose and flow of our Signature Program and learn how to articulate it’s value to our new members. They must attend each program session and actively interact with members, reminding them of the value of HiPower and community and the reason we work on our platforms, stories, positioning and communication. They increase the level of engagement between sessions to inspire and motivate community building and professional development. And they share feedback about how to make our program better with our Board.
Expert Series Committee
The HiPower Expert Series is a set of sessions for HiPower alumni where experts from within HiPower, our Sponsors and our greater network speak to us on current topics in technology, society, and business. It is an opportunity to share our knowledge, promote our expertise, and continue to build bonds among our network.
“This is me!” Committee
This is Me! is a series of virtual sessions held throughout the year where HiPower Alumni request and provide feedback, resources, and support from each other. This Is Me! sessions help to develop bonds within the group, enhance community engagement and strengthen the network.
This is Me! is a great place to:
* Get feedback on a draft talk or presentation,
* Make requests of the group (Asks) that we can help to Answer,
* Get feedback on a resume, bio, etc
* Discuss a challenge you are having and solicit feedback
* Pitch for something (but it has to be something that moves your career forward - can't be, as an example, a pitch for donating to a charitable organization)
Spring Refresh Committee
The Annual HiPower Spring Refresh is the first event of the year where all HiPower Alumni come together to work on concrete ways to increase our visibility — and then have a few drinks and catch up with one another!
Sponsorship Committee
The Sponsorship Committee fuels HiPower’s mission by securing and stewarding financial support from values-aligned companies and partners. Using our sponsorship prospectus as the foundation for outreach and activation, the committee ensures sponsors clearly understand the impact of their investment and experience meaningful engagement with the HiPower community.
Ignite Breakouts Committee
Ignite Breakouts are sessions at our annual Ignite conference where HiPower members are invited to connect, share, and learn from each other in smaller groups. Our Breakouts are designed to foster the deeper connections between members that make the HiPower community uniquely rewarding and resilient.
The mission of the Ignite Breakouts Committee is to organize engaging breakout sessions for Ignite attendees to learn, share, and connect with each other in smaller groups during the conference
JANx Talks Committee
HiPower’s signature “lightning practice TED talks” are getting an upgrade! We’re turning up the heat—you’ll give a 2 minute talk intended to become a short video portfolio clip on a topic connected with what you want to be known for or one of your speaking topics.
The mission of the JANx Talks Committee is to give HiPower members the chance to workshop speaking topics, practice speaking in front of an audience, and create content for their personal social media, websites, and portfolios.
