JANx Talks Committee

HiPower’s signature “lightning practice TED talks” are getting an upgrade! We’re turning up the heat—you’ll give a 2 minute talk intended to become a short video portfolio clip on a topic connected with what you want to be known for or one of your speaking topics. We will video tape you on the Ignite “stage” so that you can use it in our media kit - so make sure you focus on a strong hook and a concise message that demonstrates your expertise and public speaking skills.

JANx Talks Committee Mission Statement

The mission of the JANx Talks Committee is to give HiPower members the chance to workshop speaking topics, practice speaking in front of an audience, and create content for their personal social media, websites, and portfolios.

JANx Talks Committee Obligations

The JANx Talks Committee Members shall be responsible for the following:

  • Collect sign-ups and materials for JANx Talks at Ignite: Creating a form where HiPower members can sign up to give a JANx Talk at our annual Ignite conference. Following up with sign-ups to collect background slides and adding slides to Ignite slideshow. The sign-up form should be created and disseminated no later than the beginning of September.

  • Promote JANx Talks: Sharing the sign-up form, explaining JANx Talks to new members, and encouraging members to sign up for a JANx Talk through Mobilize, group chats, and personal connections.

  • Coordinate and facilitate Ignite session: Planning for the execution of JANx Talk session(s), including arranging speaker order, assigning an MC, and ensuring that speaker transitions go smoothly.

  • Record JANx Talks: Arranging technology and volunteers to record each JANx Talk at Ignite. Sharing recordings with speakers if necessary
