This is me! Committee
This is Me! is a series of virtual sessions held throughout the year where HiPower Alumni request and provide feedback, resources, and support from each other. This Is Me! sessions help to develop bonds within the group, enhance community engagement and strengthen the network.
This is Me! is a great place to:
Get feedback on a draft talk or presentation
Make requests of the group (Asks) that we can help to Answer
Get feedback on a resume, bio, etc
Discuss a challenge you are having and solicit feedback
Pitch for something (but it has to be something that moves your career forward - can't be, as an example, a pitch for donating to a charitable organization)
This Is me! Mission Statement
The mission of the This is Me! program is to harness and showcase the power of HiPower by providing members with an opportunity to ask for support or advice and receive resources and support from other members.
This is me! Committee Obligations
The This Is Me! Committee Members shall be responsible for the following:
Identifying call organizers: Among committee members, divide into smaller teams that will work together to support at least one of the sessions throughout the year. All committee members must volunteer to support at least one of the calls during the year. For example, prepare a sign up to facilitate or assist with each session.
Reviewing prepared materials: Review the template emails to be sent to HiPower members through Mobilize to announce each session and solicit presenters and attendees. Decide who will be responsible for each aspect of each session. Update the template emails if you identify any out-of-date information.
Sourcing Alumni presenters: Identify and reach out to Alumni who need support or advice. Template emails available in our HiPower Google Drive. Scheduling presenters upcoming sessions. Each presenter gets approximately 15 - 20 minutes of presentation and feedback.
Sourcing Alumni participants: Encourage Alumni to attend the sessions so that the presenters get feedback from a variety of other Alumni. Ideally, 10+ Alumni should attend each call.
Coordinating logistics: Arranging sessions according to predetermined dates identified by the HiPower Board. These sessions are virtual and run a minimum of 3 times a calendar year from 4 pm PT - 5:30 pm PT.
Arranging and distributing Zoom links: The committee member assigned to moderate each session is responsible for arranging for the zoom link so that they can ensure they have host permissions for the sessions. Sessions should NOT be recorded. HiPower currently does not have a Zoom account. If session moderator does not have a Zoom account, reach out to a HiPower Board member for assistance.
Promoting the sessions: Reach out to the HiPower Executive Member network through Mobilize to encourage attendance. Email templates are available in the HiPower Google Drive.
Facilitatiting the sessions: Facilitate the discussions. Ensure that participants are engaged and sharing valuable feedback and resources. Facilitator should explain the process at the beginning of the call:
a. presenters are already selected pre-call (if you want to be a presenter on a future call, respond to requests for presenters that you’ll receive through mobilize before the next call);
b. each presenter will have 15-20 for their presentation including feedback/questions;
c. for presenters: wait to be called on as a presenter for your time with the group;
d. for responders: virtually raise your hand and wait to be called on to provide your comments;
As facilitators, you are responsible for moving the conversation on so each presenter gets a fair amount of time and ensuring that one participant does not take up all the air in providing feedback. Suggest that people connect oine if they have additional comments for the presenter.
Post-call follow-up with presenters: Contact presenters after the sessions to thank them for their participation, gather feedback, and encourage them to provide a summary of what they got out of the session (or any immediate wins) to be distributed via mobilize to the full Alumni group.
Gathering feedback from participating members: Collecting any feedback from participating members to improve the sessions and ensure that they meet their needs.
