Community Engagement Committee

HiPower collaborates with sponsors and HiPower Executives to run periodic programs open to the public, inviting new voices and perspectives into our community. These programs allow us to connect with a wider audience, share insights, and broaden our collective impact.

Community Engagement Committee Mission Statement

The mission of the HiPower Community Engagement Committee is to plan events that bring non-HiPower members (and potential new members!) together with the HiPower community for events where leaders can network, learn, and amplify each other’s impact.

Community Engagement Committee Obligations

The Community Engagement Committee Members shall be responsible for the following:

  • Organize community events: Plan at least three HiPower Community events per year, one in the Bay Area, one in Austin, and one virtual. These events should be open to the public as well as HiPower members and should focus on topics that are related to HiPower’s mission (leadership, empowerment, social impact, etc).

  • Outreach out to speakers and special guests: If necessary (e.g. if you are organizing a panel), identify appropriate speakers and special guests that community members will be excited about. Reach out to those people to invite them to the event, introduce them to HiPower, and work with them to develop programming. Give a small thank-you gift to each guest.

  • Promote community events: Promote community events to other local HiPower members using Mobilize, and to your own network. Create e-blasts, personalized communications, and social posts as needed. Encourage other HiPower members to invite their network.

  • Coordinate event logistics: Set dates, create public invitation/RSVP links, reserve venues, order refreshments, communicate transportation and security details to attendees, secure A/V and other materials.

  • Follow up on new connections: At each event, make sure to get contact information from any new connections who seem like good candidates for the Signature Program, or who could be good speakers/guests. Send a follow-up email to let people know how they can stay connected to HiPower
