Erika Murdock Balbuena

Head of ESG, Robinhood

Erika is a leader and strategist who has been at the nexus of technology, business, and positive impact for over a decade. She is currently the Head of ESG (environment, social, governance) at Robinhood where she leads Robinhood's corporate ESG strategy. As the former Global Head of Impact Computing at Amazon Web Services, she helped customers and organizations like start-ups, leading web companies, and Global 500 companies leverage the power of cloud computing to solve some of the world’s biggest challenges—whether that meant mapping the world’s water supply, curing cancer, or reducing carbon emissions. Prior to joining Amazon, she headed up Strategic Initiatives at Twilio.org, launching the Twilio.org Impact Fund, where she led investments in social enterprises and nonprofits focused on accelerating their impact through innovative communication technologies. While at Twilio, she also served as the catalyst in building out their crisis response team and aided social impact organizations in utilizing Twilio’s communications platform. Erika has shared her passion for technology’s role in solving large, global problems at the Global Philanthropy Forum, SOCAP, and the NetHope Global Summit, to name a few. She began her career in tech at TaskRabbit and prior to that consulted for large and small nonprofits, including the $600M Campaign for UCSF Medical Center. Erika’s personal mission is to create a seat at her table for underrepresented women, which she accomplishes through 1:1 mentorship, board service, and investing.
