Michelle Riconscente, PhD is Chief Strategy and Operating Officer at Motimatic, PBC where she leads vision and strategy across engineering, product, content, client engagement and marketing. A nationally recognized expert in innovative educational technologies, Michelle has served as an advisor to academic projects, tech start-ups and investors, including the Harvard Graduate School of Education, Digital Promise, UCLA, Michelson Runway Accelerator and Motion Math Games. Her approach is highly practical, pulling strategic insights from learning science and aligning closely to business needs to drive value and growth. 

From 2014 to 2020 she founded and grew Designs for Learning, Inc., a consultancy focused on designing and evaluating effective learning and assessment technologies that promote workforce and academic skills. Previously, as Managing Director of Learning and Assessment at GlassLab, she created data-driven product strategies for learning games and led innovation beyond standardized test scores. 

Michelle started her career in the non-profit academic sector where she developed deep expertise in learning science, educational technology and assessment as well as mixed-methods research techniques. As a professor of educational psychology at the University of Southern California, she published the first experimental study of an iPad learning app. The author of over 100 publications and presentations, Michelle holds a PhD in educational psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park and an interdisciplinary bachelor’s degree in mathematics-physics from Brown University.
