Laura Bergheim

Founder & CEO, Wordsmithie, Inc.

A writer by nature and entrepreneur by nurture, Laura began her career as a journalist after graduating from Sarah Lawrence College in 1985. She entered the digital world during the internet’s frontier era, leading Lycos’ features team as they crafted some of the earliest at-scale content for the web (Lycos was the first search engine). She was then Creative Director for Content at the first digital agency, Resource Interactive, which shaped click-and-mortar e-commerce by bringing Victoria’s Secret and other retailers online in the late ‘90s and early ‘00s. 

 In 2005, Laura joined Google as one of its first content strategists, crafting and managing messaging for AdWords (now Google Ads) and other monetized products. In 2010, she left Google to found Wordsmithie, Inc., a distributed content marketing agency with talent across the U.S. and Europe. One of Google’s leading content marketing agencies (supporting 40+ product teams there), Wordsmithie also works with an array of other brands, including Atlassian, Coinbase, Square, Audacy, and Cathay Pacific Airways. 

 Although Laura has authored/co-authored eight non-fiction books; one day, she plans to return to fiction writing, her first literary love. Laura lives north of Boston in Rockport, Massachusetts, with her husband, Jim, and their Maine Coon cat, Rosie.
