Dr. Kincaid is a CEO and expert in the biotechnology industry with a strong background in DNA sequencing and analysis. She is a co-founder of two startups in Santa Cruz, CA that develop innovative tools for clinical research (Claret Bioscience) and forensic genomics (Astrea Forensics).

Dr. Kincaid has spent her scientific career focused on the recovery and analysis of degraded or ancient DNA. Her academic research explored the evolution of pathogens and human diseases by applying paleogenomic methods to archaeological human remains. She further developed her expertise in DNA technology and assay development during her NSF postdoctoral fellowship at UC Santa Cruz, ultimately leading to the spinout of her first company.

With over 13 years of experience working with next-generation sequencing platforms and DNA analysis, Dr. Kincaid is dedicated to developing novel approaches for the analysis of challenging samples like cell-free DNA, FFPE, rootless hair, and forensic samples. Her contributions to the field have resulted in numerous publications and awarded patents.

Dr. Kincaid's achievements have been widely recognized, with numerous prestigious awards and fellowships from organizations such as the National Institutes of Health/National Cancer Institute, the National Science Foundation, the Fulbright Program, the Philanthropic Educational Organization, and Skidmore College’s Palamountain Scholar Award. She holds a PhD in Anthropology (Bioarchaeology) from Arizona State University, and BAs in Music and Anthropology from Skidmore College. Dr. Kincaid is a successful entrepreneur, leader, and innovator who is making a significant impact in the field of biotechnology.
