Tracy Edkins is a global C-Level HR executive and leader who brings 20 years of deep experience as a business-oriented HR partner for pioneers and industry leaders including eBay, Starbucks and Splunk. She supports organizations through times of significant growth, business turnarounds and re-invention, delivering improvements to business performance through strong partnerships and a deep understanding of the company, industry and culture. Tracy is data-driven and innovative, with expertise in product, engineering, sales and marketing across commerce, service and technology sectors. She is known for her repeated successes scaling for growth while maintaining a strong, healthy culture and the ability to coach and mentor leaders to secure organizational effectiveness. Tracy is qualified to advise a company and board looking to grow or transform the business through the lens of human capital strategy, ethics and culture development. As Chief Human Resources Officer for Splunk (Nasdaq: SPLK), Tracy successfully evolved the culture during a time of substantial growth through thoughtful people, talent attraction and diversity and inclusion initiatives. She guided the Splunk hiring, promotion and retention programs that resulted in employee growth from 1,200 employees to over 5,500 in just 4 years, expanding to new countries and locations as part of a workforce planning initiative. Tracy is a key member of the Splunk executive team overseeing the due diligence, determining fit and leading integration for six technology and talent company acquisitions, each valued between $120M to $1.05B. Tracy created a diversity and inclusion platform for Splunk with more than 12 employee-led employee resource groups that drove the retention and acquisition of a more diverse workforce, increasing female representation by 2% YoY and increasing minority representation by .5 to 1% YoY in 2018/2019. While she was Vice President of Human Resources for eBay Inc. (Nasdaq: EBAY), Tracy led the HR business partner function for the Global Product and Technology units of eBay Marketplaces. She successfully created and implemented an Engineering Career Ladder for eBay that impacted 6,000+ employees in more than 8 countries, and she led a 3,500-employee organizational redesign, shifting the organization to a functional model that maximized innovation. In addition, Tracy was a key contributor in eBay’s successful acquisition of several organizations, ensuring effective integration, rapid adoption of the technology and retention of critical talent. Previously, as Senior Director of Partner Resources for the Canadian division of Starbucks Coffee Company, Tracy introduced programs that led to improved morale across the entire Starbucks organization, resulting in a 4% increase in ESAT and an employee-driven decertification in 100% of unionized locations. She successfully evolved the Starbucks Accelerated Development Program in response to the increasing demand for high-performing District Managers increasing the percentage of graduates promoted from 30% to 100% along with a 100% increase in program participants. Tracy holds an Advanced Bachelor of Arts in Employment Studies and Economics from the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada. In addition, she studied Organizational Management and Development at Fielding Graduate University in Santa Barbara, Calif. Tracy regularly speaks and leads presentations on various topics including Culture, Diversity and Inclusion, Leadership, Career Development, and Data-driven HR to internal and external audiences.
