Sherry Main

Assistant Vice Chancellor, Public Affairs, University of California, Irvine

Sherry Hashimoto Main is currently taking on a new role leading public affairs and communications at the University of California, Irvine. She serves as the university’s storyteller, overseeing news and media relations, social media, government and community relations, and public affairs. Sherry leads a team that collectively and collaboratively works to elevate the university’s reputation.

Sherry makes her career transition from UC Santa Cruz where she served as the Chief Communications and Marketing Officer, overseeing marketing and development communications, digital strategy, and served on the Chancellor’s cabinet as an advisor on issues and crisis communications.

In June 2017, University of California President Janet Napolitano appointed Sherry to serve as an advisor to the UC Board of Regents. She brings the voice and perspective of over 200,000 employees to Board discussions. Sherry also serves on the board of directors for the CLUB Silicon Valley as secretary. Sherry was thrilled to be honored alongside her peers by the Silicon Valley Business Journal as a 2018 Women of Influence.

Sherry enjoys international travel, outdoor jaunts, and culinary adventures with her family.
