SESSION 1: Negotiating Your Next Job

Sharon Segev

You nailed your interview and received an offer for an exciting new position. But when you view the offer letter, the compensation isn’t as high as you expected. Negotiating an offer can feel intimidating. Hear some lessons learned from the front-lines and come ready to share your own stories and learnings.

SESSION 2: How To Write Your Op-Ed - and Why!

Screen Shot 2021-08-31 at 7.52.28 AM.png

Delida Costin

Show up with something you have written - it can be a draft or something you posted on LI that you would develop further. We'll discuss what it takes to turn it into an oped, where you might pitch it and how. This is a preview to a full op-ed program that we can run next year if enough members are interested.

SESSION 3: Habits That Stick

Connie Kwan

Habit change is hard. You’ve probably tried some things that didn’t work. But do you know why it didn’t work?

Because it’s not tied to your values. Values are stories about the world that lives in your bones. If you want your new habit to stick, then you need to attach it to something reliable, you need to attach it to your values. In this workshop we’ll help you create habit-value pairs to make your habit stick.

SESSION 4: Manage Your Energy, Not Your Time

Karen Gordon

Do you find yourself feeling overwhelmed, trying to keep up in a rapidly changing world? Do you wish that there was more time in your day to keep up with everything that you have in front of you? For the past decade, time management has been all the rage. So much has been written about the best way to manage your time; however, if you are only managing your time and not your energy, you are still going to find yourself feeling overwhelmed and burnt out. Energy, and how it is unique to each of us, is the untapped gold we need to mine. Understanding how to capitalize on your strengths and the strengths of others is a rich vein of goodness that will enable you to inspire others, create winning team cultures, come up with game-changing ideas, and better navigate the world of hybrid work, all while creating the key element of any great team or culture… trust. Energy Management is an incredible differentiator. Tapping into your core energies and learning to manage the energies of others is the next Pepita Canaã. In this session, you will learn how to work collaboratively by recognizing what is figure and what is ground for you and others, and you will be given a chance to practice tapping into your lower energies for optimal outcomes. We all have 24 hours in a day; depending on how we manage our own energy and the interaction of our energy with others throughout that time makes all the difference in how we feel at the end of it.

SESSION 5: Menopause? More Like Meno-Strong!

Get this: Numerous medical studies have shown over and over again that lacking physical strength leads to a 250% increase in mortality relative to being strong. Yikes! For context, having high blood pressure, Type 2 diabetes, or smoking leads to 20%, 30%, and 50% increases in mortality, respectively. And when you realize that muscle mass decreases around 3-8% per decade AFTER THE AGE OF 30—well, it’s easy to understand that loss of muscle mass is a fundamental cause of falls, disability, loss of mobility, osteoporosis—and generally a terrible quality of life. The risks are even higher for women who’ve experienced menopause. Here’s the good news: loss of strength and muscle mass is highly preventable and reversible. Resistance training—with bodyweight, bands, free weights etc—is a great way to build that strength and help ensure a longer, healthier life. If you’re interested in getting started or optimizing your existing program for longevity, come join us for this session on resistance training. You’ll walk away understanding: - What counts as resistance training - Simple ways to get started - The basics of good resistance-training form - How much training makes a difference - A quick-start equipment list - How to build strength in a fun, enjoyable way - Options for virtual coaching and/or programming.
