Michelle Maynard offers two decades of extraordinary success in a series of high level roles at top tier companies that include Eiger BioPharmaceuticals, PaxVax Inc, Nanometrics, Maxim Integrated, BEA Systems, OpSource, The Gap, Inc.

Michelle’s invaluable expertise and broad business range have powered a history of developing successful process improvements that drive productivity, reliability, and client satisfaction. Such traits have consistently enabled Michelle to achieve an impressive command of the skills needed to manage ongoing business planning processes while developing strategies to meet future challenges.

As the Senior Vice President, Finance at Eiger BioPharmaceuticals, Michelle innovated the company’s first bottoms-up budget model and long range plan process, established a Purchasing department, implemented purchasing strategies, and a formal purchase order process, as well as an IT team with a focus on cyber security. Michelle accomplished this while overseeing the month-end close process, financial planning and analysis, SEC reporting, and SOX compliance. Ms. Maynard has dedicated herself and her vision as a leader who engages in projects with an “All-In” attitude.

Before Eiger, and with a forte for successfully building strong teams and holding a key role leading all facets of finance and strategy, Ms. Maynard has successfully positioned PaxVax Inc. as a leading expert in its field with respect to the application of best business and finance practices contributing to the following successes:

● Acted as Finance lead for strategic funding and Bus Dev opportunities from Private Equity to Government Grants.

● Enhanced the effectiveness of the organization, evolving Finance, Accounting and IT from small support departments based in the United States into a global presence supporting commercial operations in 12 countries.

● Served as the architect of formal processes, procedures, and best practices to govern book-to-bill, global supply chain, tax, cost accounting, and treasury management, as well as annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.

● Coordinated and led integration activities following the acquisition of the company’s first commercial product, a vaccine for typhoid. Served as a key member of the team that sold a priority review voucher for $290M.

Prior to assuming her roles for Eiger BioPharmaceuticals and PaxVax Inc, Michelle achieved over a decade of experience driving positive outcomes across Corporate Financial Leadership, Budget Development, Financial Risk Management, Revenue Cycle Management, Tax Structure, Process Improvement, and Internal Controls in multiple roles with Nanometrics, Mattson Technology, Esilicon, and Element Labs.

Combining her proven business instinct with an unprecedented disciplinary work ethic, Michelle has continuously exceeded expectations in high stake environments within Eiger BioPharmaceuticals, PaxVax Inc, Nanometrics, Maxim Integrated, BEA Systems, and the Gap Inc, positioning herself as a key member of each company and a driving force for growth.

Michelle is a Certified Public Accountant (active), holds a Bachelor of Arts, Economics/Accounting from the University of California Santa Barbara, and completed the Corporate Finance Program from the London School of Business.

Michelle is a member of HiPower, a non-profit organization for women executives, who collectively, support the development of personal platforms to drive the change we want to see in our society.
