Stefanie Layne

VP, Chief of Staff, TripActions

Stef Layne is the VP, Chief of Staff at TripActions. Previously, she was Treasurer of Box, Inc., a global Cloud Content Management company based in Redwood City, CA.  She led Treasury & Procurement and also served as the Chief of Staff to the Founder/CFO.  She joined Box in June 2014 in the final months as a private company and proudly supported Box’s listing on the NYSE in Jan 2015.

With a mostly Finance background, Stef led a company-wide campaign coined #Yo!FCF to educate employees, drive $15M+ in incremental savings and raise awareness to achieving the Wall Street promise of reaching positive free cash flow 2 years post-IPO.  She enjoys driving efficiencies across the full cash conversion cycle – from supplier relationships and contracts to the very dollars collected from customers.  Stef has led multiple debt refinancing rounds lowering interest expense, optimizing available capacity, and reducing restricted cash on the balance sheet.

In the Chief of Staff capacity, Stef has helped scale the G&A function during a high growth period.  She raises the game for the CFO and his leadership team to ensure they are focusing on the right objectives, supporting key business initiatives and maintaining a vibrant, fun culture.  As the leader of the travel program, her team implemented a new, innovative travel solution to increase employee satisfaction, provide cost savings and improve visibility to key T&E spend.

Prior to Box, Stef spent 8 years at eBay / PayPal in various Finance roles. Joined in Treasury, spent 2 years in a global leadership rotation program and landed in M&A Integrations.  Most notably, she led the integration efforts for the acquisition of Braintree/Venmo.

Stef enjoys advising early stage companies to influence their strategy, help build innovative solutions, and act as a sounding board for their entrepreneurial ideas.  Born and raised in the Bay Area, she has an undergraduate degree in Business Management and lives in the South Bay with her husband and two sons.
