Vice President, Commercial Operations, Global Blood Therapeutics
Gwendolyn Whitney is the VP, U.S. Commercial Operations at Global Blood Therapeutics, an emerging biopharmaceutical company committed to evolving the future of Sickle Cell Disease. In her role Gwendolyn is responsible informing commercial strategy through decision support (insights & analytics) and enabling launch readiness, operations excellence and commercial effectiveness. As the Head of Commercial Operations, Gwendolyn is accountable for building commercial operations capabilities and leading the commercial operations organization including forecasting, market research, data strategy, business analytics, sales operations and learning & development.
Prior to this, Gwendolyn held several senior commercial leadership roles at Gilead Sciences- including Head of Sales Analytics & Operations where she was responsible for sales, marketing & payer analytics, incentive compensation, sales enablement, and data strategy & governance for the $20B+ US commercial affiliate. Before that she was Head of Commercial Learning & Development where she directed commercial L&D strategy and operations across all in-line and pipeline therapeutic areas. Gwen was also a Senior Sales Leader for the multi-billion-dollar flagship U.S. HIV Business Unit, owning the west U.S. business strategy, growth and execution.
Gwen is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia (BSBA) and Saint Joseph’s University (MBA). She is passionate about women’s inclusion, development & advancement…and the value of diversity more generally. When she is not working, Gwendolyn enjoys traveling throughout the Caribbean and Mexico regions, reading personal finance books and spending time with her teenage daughter.
