Genessa Stout is Head of Legal and Compliance at Tally, the first fully-automated debt manager. She is responsible for leading Tally’s day-to-day legal affairs, including risk management, product development, corporate governance, and intellectual property, among other areas. Before joining Tally, Genessa held multiple roles at PayPal, including Director of Litigation, and Product and Regulatory counsel for Venmo and PayPal. Genessa also spent time in Washington D.C. where she worked for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and led the investigation and resolution of several large enforcement actions related to mobile payments, mortgages, and small-dollar lending. Genessa is from Seattle where she worked for a law firm focusing on complex litigation relating to financial services. She is a graduate of the University of Washington and Seattle University School of Law. Genessa also spends time with her family, practices yoga, and hikes (but prefers to never camp!) in the natural beauty of the Bay Area as often as possible.
