Tykia Warden

Executive Director, San Mateo County Community Colleges Foundation

Tykia is the Executive Director for the San Mateo County Community Colleges (SMCCC) Foundation. The SMCCC Foundation provides philanthropic support to the students and programs at the three colleges of the San Mateo County Community College District: Cañada College, College of San Mateo, and Skyline College. In her role, Tykia provides vision, leadership, strategic direction, and overall coordination of a comprehensive fundraising effort on behalf of the colleges.

An experienced fundraiser responsible for all aspects of raising money, including pursuing and obtaining funds from foundations, corporations, individuals, and government sources through activities such as donor relations, grant-writing, estate planning, special events and strategic comprehensive campaigns, Tykia loves to build relationships, share her enthusiasm for a worthy cause and find resources available to nonprofits.

Tykia received her Bachelor of Arts in Communications & African-American Diaspora Studies from Indiana University and a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Communications from Bowie State University. She has eleven years of experience in fundraising and nonprofit management. Tykia is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) and was Director of Advancement for the Smithsonian Institution before moving to California.

Tykia is married with two children and is a charter member of the Omega Upsilon Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
